Elmhurst Community Unit School District 205 and the Elmhurst YMCA value important community relationships, such as the one that our organizations have enjoyed for many years. For that reason, the leadership of both of our agencies met recently to address some issues and concerns related to the facilities usage at Field Elementary School.

Our collaborative efforts have resulted in an agreement between our two organizations to continue to offer the evening and weekend YMCA programs at Field Elementary School. In an effort to help protect the District’s facilities, the YMCA has agreed to provide additional supervision and a parental communication to increase awareness of recent acts of vandalism at the school.

The District currently provides facilities for the YMCA evening programs at nearly all of our 13 schools. Both agencies understand the importance of providing our children access to venues where they can express themselves, enjoy physical activities, and enhance their well-being in a safe and secure environment.

We are hopeful that these corrective actions will allow our community partnership to continue for the benefit of our Elmhurst families.
